Family Resources
Family is a critical part of our Pack and the Cub Scout experience. We thank our parents, family members and other caregivers for being part of our team!
Cub Scout Family Basics
As a Cub Scout parent/caregiver, your involvement is integral to ensure your Scout has a great experience. And one of the great joys of Scouting is the family-centered aspect of the program.
Here's what you can do to help your Cub Scout succeed:
-
Get your Cub Scout to the events and programs, on time and prepared. The best way to do this is to get your Den and Pack events on your calendar. You can find the Pack calendar here.
-
Ensure your Cub Scout has a uniform and gear.
-
Help your Cub Scout complete his Adventure/Rank requirements, assist them in determining what other recognition they might like to earn, and help them in tracking those requirements/reporting them to the Pack or Den. Make sure your Cub Scout finishes any "home assignments."
-
Offer to help out! The Pack and Dens need parent help to make all these great events and activities happen! See the Help Wanted section below for more information on what parents need to do to ensure that our Pack can continue.
-
Ensure your Cub Scout is following Pack rules and that everyone is enjoying themselves in a safe and supportive way. See the Cub Behavior section below for more information on expectations.
-
Have fun! Take part and enjoy spending time with your Cub Scout and their friends!

Help Wanted: what we need you to do to "Help the Pack Go!"
Cub Scouts is a volunteer organization and it can't happen without the help of many parents/caregivers in many different ways. EVERY FAMILY IS EXPECTED TO HELP THE DEN AND/OR PACK IN SOME CAPACITY! Special talent? Relationship? Job?
First, consider whether you have special talents, abilities, or relationships that can be accessed for our group. And then let us know! Parent relationships have gotten some of our Scouts on tours of a TV station and the DC harbor patrol.
Any and all effort is helpful!
Even if you don't feel you bring something "special," just the effort and help you can give adds to the program. And trust us, you will get far more back than you contribute. At times, you might find yourself called upon and tapped for a role in the Den or Pack. Please be flattered and take this role on in good spirit and helpfulness.
Join our Pack leadership team!
In addition to the Den Leaders/Assistant Den Leaders, the Pack requires a Committee Chari, Cubmaster/Assistant Cubmaster(s), Treasurer, New Membership Coordinator, Pack Trainer, Campout Coordinator, Hikemaster, Pinewood Derby Lead, leads for other yearly Pack activities, etc. (Oh, and a Webmaster!)
Some of these positions are filled for this year, but some are available currently. And we always have room for more volunteers. PLEASE consider volunteering for a position--or ask any current leader for more information.
Cub Behavior
As a parent/caregiver, you are our partner in ensuring that our Cub Scouts follow the rules and behave appropriately so that everyone is safe and can have fun.
Scouts in our pack are expected to:
-
Have fun!
-
Get dirty on campouts
-
Spend enjoyable time with their friends and family
-
Follow rules and directions of their Leaders and parents/caregivers
-
Uphold the spirit of the Scout Oath and Scout Law
-
Behave appropriately depending upon the circumstance--for example, running outside at a campout is okay; running by the campfire or running in the church hall is not
-
Do their best!
Scouts in our pack are expected to NOT:
-
Bully
-
Tease
-
Ignore Leader or parent/caregiver instructions
-
Yell and run around in the church hall
Parents/caregivers in our Pack are expected to help ensure that all the boys follow these simple rules, so that everyone can have fun safely, and we can respect our church hosts.
Thank you!
Cub Scout Insignia and Uniforms
Our Cub Scouts have two uniforms (see below for more detail):
-
"Class A" The traditional blue Cub Scout shirt, with neckerchief, slide, and hat specific to that scout's level. The belt is required to display the "belt loop" awards that Scouts earn. Official Cub Scout pants, socks, etc., are optional. If you do not have official Cub Scout pants, dark pants or clean jeans will suffice. The blue shirt that is purchased for the Scout's first year can be used through the 5th grade (when the khaki uniform shirt of older Scouts BSA becomes an option), so obtain a big size accordingly! Some gently used hand-me-downs from prior Pack families may be available in our rummage bin.
-
"Class B" (our pack t-shirt). Cost included in annual dues.
Any family struggling with the cost of the uniform, Scouts BSA registration, Pack dues or the like should speak privately to the Cubmaster -- grant assistance may be available.
